You might want to start with extended tracing...
 
Helpful troubleshooting and tracing for several of the utilities –
Database Upgrade Assistant, Database Creation Assistant and Network
Configuration Assistant. Note 577775.1, DBUA or Migration Is Hanging
What to do? and Note 428118.1 How to enable Java code tracing for DBUA,
DBCA and NETCA?
