I don't agree with this.
 
Escpecially because development tends to find most major issues first
before they progress to production. Rumpi has a better solution, if you
can spare the time.

How about putting beginners to Development db's to start with and then
move on to QC / UAT etc? That would give you some breathing time to
arrive at the criticality.
