technically manage the team of Production Database Engineers .
- Provide technical guidance and day to day technical supervision of work of
all team members.
- Should have in-depth knowledge and understanding of Oracle 10 and Oracle
11g.
- Experience in RAC, Siebel,MySQL and Hadoop would be a big plus.
- Must be willing to work for a 24 x 7 team responsible for maintaining eBay
Production databases.
- Must be willing to Monitor databases and systems utilization to drive
monitoring, troubleshooting and restoration of site issues.
- Be willing to multitask and work in fire fighting mode when the database
is impacted.
- Work with external teams to diagnose complex problems and drive
resolutions.
- Good understanding of Oracle, its internals , data dictionary, SQL
tuning, working with statspack in an OLTP environment.
- The person should be a pro in writing SQL statements and must have hands
on experience in SQL and scripting.
- Take corrective action for operational database problems and must be able
to give recommendation of optimal SQL queries.
- Should be good in shell or Perl scripting. Perl is preffered.
- Good communication skills is a must.Job Requirements8+ yrs of related
experience including:
• Experience troubleshooting and tuning High volume transactional Oracle
databases in a production environment.
• Experience with very large production databases (500 GB+)
• Understanding of multi-tier architectures from a conceptual level
• Hands on experience on Operational environments with a DBA background is
essential for this jobgg
• Experience with database replication technologies like Shareplex, standby,
Dataguard etc.
• Proven problem solving skills with an emphasis on quick problem resolution
• Ability to work on many tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure
environment
• Mid-level Unix system administration skills
• Experience in Perl or shell scripting .
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
4-8 years experience managing a team.EducationBachelors Degree or Equivalent
