Thanks Nial for responding.

If you mean continue to use a cooked / Mounted Cluster File system (CFS)
in place of the RAW ASM devices for the RAC Database, e.g. Sun Shared
QFS or the Veritas Storage Foundation for Oracle RAC (SFRAC) Mounted
CFS?

(This would allow continuing with the traditional datafiles)

Is Moving to & Managing the ASM Technology far more complex than the
existing CFS Solutions like QFS, Veritas for RAC?

Cheers

Vivek

I had similar thoughts I suppose. You have a 3TB system that you want to
be highly available. What then is the motivation for moving it from one
storage technology to another, especially another more complex one.
There are a number of filesystems that you can use for RAC databases and
if you are in the market for the hardware/dr etc that is necessary to
support a highly available 3TB system you likely won't have issues with
paying for them.

Why not stay with files?

What could be the approach to Convert a Large 3 TB NON-RAC Production
Database with Datafiles existing on cooked/Mounted Filesystem (UFS) to a
3 instance RAC using "ASM"?
