Actually, that's a complete lie. I use the FreeTDS driver from the EPEL
repository, so I am using an "SQL Server" driver.

entry from the tnsnames.ora file that specified the port to listen on for
the ODBC connections. Once that was restored, all is working as it should.

I just upgraded an Oracle database from 12.1.0.2 to 19. Now the
connections via the heterogeneous connections don’t work. I’ve copied all
of the .ora files into the new $ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin directory. I’ve
updated the listener.ora file to use the new 19c Oracle home and restarted
the listener.
I did not have a new SQL Server ODBC driver installed. From what I can
see that hasn’t changed, the most recent one is “ODBC Driver 17 for SQL
Server”. If there’s a newer one, I can’t find it.
When I do a tnsping, I get “TNS-12541: TNS: no listener”, but there is a
listener. I can see the entries when I do a status.
What have I missed? Obviously there’s something.
