Hi, finally got some pc trash working, which is Quad core 2 Q6600 , 8GB RAM, 2x 1TB 7200 64MB cache SATA2 Disks. Wondering which virtualization method to choose: 1. Oracle VM Pros: -Xen (bare metal virtualization) - templates - stick with Oracle - already downloaded templates :) Cons: - need additional pc for Oracle VM Manager 2. ESX Pros: - mature technology - popular one Cons: - need additional pc for ESX management (not an option with 1 pc) 3. Just some Linux disto with Oracle Vbox . Pros: -easy Cons: - dont see any other 4. Just some Linux disto with VMware -generaly same as Oracle VBOX My goal is to made - 2 node 10.2.0.X RAC - 2 node 11.2.0.X RAC - 11.2.0.X single with Logical/Physical Standby - 10.2.0.X single with Logical/Physical Standby of course not running this parallel :). And most important question , should I choose Solaris x86 as guest system because I've noticed all Oracle Hackers are using Solaris because of DTrace :) and mpstat Looks like DTrace is a must have when trying to go deep into internals is that right ?
