I agree, and I always preferred using udev - it just needs a little bit mor handicraft and you are sving an extra complexity or dependency layer. This part of udev has been the same for at least two generations of Linux now. Just write a udev rule based on the SCSI ID of the LUN, as described here: http://www.usn-it.de/index.php/2010/04/23/oracle-grid-infrastructure-udev-fixing-ora-15081/ -- Mit freundlichem Gruß Martin Klier Senior Oracle Database Administrator ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Klug GmbH integrierte Systeme Lindenweg 13, D-92552 Teunz Tel.: +49 9671/9216-245 Fax.: +49 9671/9216-112 mailto: martin.klier@xxxxxxxxxx www.klug-is.de ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Geschäftsführer: Johann Klug, Roman Sorgenfrei Sitz der Gesellschaft: Teunz, USt-ID-Nr. Just to add that, as you probably already know, you could use udev (instead of asmlib). To use asmlib with RHEL 6, you'll need to configure/use UEK, see 1089399.1.
