As a Denver resident (well...the burbs actually), you can attend the conference rather cheaply. Frontier Airlines has very reasonable fares, decent schedule, very dependable service and great customer service. Their hub is Denver and they fly from most major markets in the states.

Public transportation is decent. The light rail line has a stop at the Convention Center and good service to the southcentral & southwest suburbs. If you stay in the Denver Tech Center, you will pay about 1/2 of what it costs to stay downtown, you can walk (or take the hotel shuttle) to a nearby station and pay about $10 for a round trip light rail ticket.

For those who want to ski or snowboard, the weekend before Collab is the last weekend most resorts are open. It will be busy, but the snow should still be good.

If you have any questions or want some additional advice, contact me off list.

So I got the word from IOUG that my abstract has been accepted.
Hurray!!

I forwarded that acceptance email to my manager asking for some travel
money, and state the obvious that I won't need any money to pay for the
conference fee.

I eventually get a response back from his manager that the overhead
money is tight...maybe we can send you for a day or two...??!?!?!??!?!
Overhead money is tight? Isn't it January?
So that was yesterday, and today I have calmed down a bit. And I was
wondering if other folks have encountered this problem? Wondering if
this is common? I have always assumed that if you get accepted to
present then your company "stepped up" and sent you. I guess I am
wrong?
