Great paper, but not the original one I was thinking about, as mentioned, it 
came out of Oracle, pretty sure it was by either Ara or Nitin at the time. 
Should be dated around 2006'ish

I remember when ASM just made it's appearance there was a paper available that 
explained how ASM distributes blocks when configured in normal or high, thinks 
like primary block owner and 8 potential partners for each asm disk.

Any chance anyone has this lying around, or have an updated version taking 
Exadata Storage servers into consideration.
