Subject: AIX Warning Message in DB Writer Trace File

All,

We are running Oracle 9.2.0.7 & 10.2.0.2 on Aix 5.2. I am seeing the following
warnings in the DB Writer trace file:

Warning: lio_listio returned EAGAIN
Performance degradation may be seen.

The following unix parameters are as follows:
# date
Fri Feb 16 12:46:43 EST 2007
# pstat -a | grep -c aios
101

Current system parameters:
# lsattr -El aio0
autoconfig available STATE to be configured at system restart True
fastpath enable State of fast path True
kprocprio 39 Server PRIORITY True
maxreqs 4096 Maximum number of REQUESTS True
maxservers 10 MAXIMUM number of servers per cpu True
minservers 1 MINIMUM number of servers True

It looks like we should increase the maxservers and minservers parameter. Has
anyone else seen this? Any suggestions as to what I should set maxservers to?
It looks like a value of 300 would be a good start according to an IBM web
site. Does this make sense?

Thanks

Tom
