Sheldon,
Like Sriram mentioned performance tuning is very vast. I do not know your
level of oracle knowledge. Personally, I find that understanding the basics
well before moving onto advanced topics is important. I have wasted (and
seen others waste) time by trying to understand something advanced without
knowing the basic principles on topics.

Lots of times I read the blogs and the posts online, like this list, oracle
forums <https://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jspa?forumIDa> in oracle
website. The advantage in reading such posts is that other learners have
questions seeking answers to similar issues. We get pointed in the right
direction. Also I have learned to recognize the gurus and good teachers.
Reading posts, blogs, answers by such people has increased my level of
knowledge. When I look for search engine results, I immediately give more
weightage to such people's postings. (lots of times I find it difficult to
follow what the gurus say, because I am not at their level of knowledge, so
sometimes a guru need not be a good teacher for me)

You can click on this link and scroll through them and see if any are of
help to you:
