The last reply to this question presumed the original
post was about 9i and 10g RAC in the same cluster. If this
is not a request for information about doing so with Linux, you
will have to seek out more information about the libskgxn.so
implementation on your platform (e.g., integrated with MC/Service Guard,
HACMP, Veritas, etc).

As for Linux, we do have a lot of large clusters (>8nodes) that run 9i
and 10g
simultaneously. It is not a problem, once you get it set up.

Do yourself a favor and install 10g first, otherwise the 10g installer
will "detect" 9i out there and force-feed a bizarre attempt to upgrade
the 9i OCMS to 10g CRS (or in the oracle vernacular, "Clusterware").

If you must install 10g after 9i, make sure to shutdown OCMS and
rename all the files that point to the 9i environment (e.g.,
srvConfig.loc,
orainst.loc, etc.)

I cover a little of this in one of our 10g RAC Install Guides which uses
a
10 node install as its model. Linux, of course:

There is a link to a white paper on how this is done on the RAC
SIG website at www.oracleracsig.org

You can have 9i and 10g on the same node. But 9i will
use the 9i
clusterware and 10g will use the CRS. It is possible and
