HP-UX, AIX, True64 for a while. Win2k will work, but is inherently inefficient with respect to the scheduler which is a problem for Oracle. Dollar for dollar you will need more hardware to run a given workload on Windows vs. Unix (including Linux) BTW, although we use Linux, we depend on vendors to add the features to the kernel to help run Oracle and they are getting pretty reasonable at it. I read the source, but I wouldn't have to in order to use it in production. We are really skeptic about Linux (open source=3F we dont have resources and need to read, alter and extend its open source code) and Solaris promises no future. What else is available except windows. regards, =46ahd ----- Original Message ----- =46rom: "Stephen Andert" <StephenAndert@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <fahd-m@xxxxxxxxxxx>; <oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, June 17, 2004 11:07 PM Subject: Re: 9i Hardware Spec > Fahd, > Sorry, I can't help but ask why you WANT (your words) to use Win 2k=3F > Is it a political decision for your organization=3F > > Stephen ---------------------------------------------------------------- Please see the official ORACLE-L FAQ: http://www.orafaq.com ---------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe send email to: oracle-l-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put 'unsubscribe' in the subject line. -- Archives are at //www.freelists.org/archives/oracle-l/ =46AQ is at //www.freelists.org/help/fom-serve/cache/1.html ----------------------------------------------------------------- ______________________________________________________________________________ This email is intended solely for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged information.
