Tanel, If I understand your statement, ASM can handle file systems? Or is the ASM using raw and knows to keep track of the archlog nomenclature internally and place the logs where it may but make them appear as cooked? In 10g you can place archivelogs to ASM managed "directory", you just include a + sign in beginning of log_archive_dest_x parameters value, to specify that we are dealing with ASM volume instead of a regular directory.
