Hey guys/gals,

We patched to 10.2.0.4 this weekend and CPU patch 24.

Today, we had a query go into a spin. It said it was waiting on SQL*Net
message to Client, but the I/O [Consistent Gets] were spinning upward at a
dizzying pace while it was "waiting".

The query was a simple join with a "WHERE EXISTS" statement.

We had 2 Function based indexes involved in the query - one with a SUBSTR and
one with a TRUNC.

I dropped both of those after verifying a different execution plan and
performance went back to normal (1-2 second total time).

Anyone run into performance problems with latches or anything when going to
10.2.0.4 from 10.2.0.3?

I've been poking around on Metalink but having a hard time find any useful
information.

Any suggestions on what to look for?

I did see a couple of waits for "Latch: Cache Buffer Chains" that I'm still
investigating but no specific bugs with 10.2.0.4.
