No problem to send it electronically, just tell the provider or to send it to the CVS or Walgreens which every is cheaper and to save both on your pharmacy list. They'll know the workflow. 2 years running eprescribing for a major hospital. Only problem with eprescribing is that each script costs the pharmacy $.25, each refill $.17, it is almost humorous watching the pharmacies try not to have to pay the fees. So much better workflow for them, no paper to keep track of, just a queue on a computer (which seems to be difficult for some stores). It will also fix the problem of having a prescription sent across the street from your Walgreens to the CVS because that store has Xalatan 25.00 cheaper. Go ahead and try it, get them to sent it electronically and see how far you get! Small issues like greed and 'expert care' will help the patients keep up with their current medications and eleminate redundant testing. We don't need to use the internet or information exchanges, just keep hand writing prescriptions and faxing visual fields. It will all work out. Without responsibility and accountability, there is no sense of doing the right thing. The system I fear the most with Obamacare. While in principle, socialized medicine sounds great. In practice, not so much. Ask those in Canada, the UK, Australia, Russia. How's that working for you? If you don't have a vested interest in the financial outcome, then the less work the better. My two cents.
