New version of HFA software has separate fields for names and existing patients
can be edited into the new format. Also most versions HFA have the ability to
merge files.

I will agree that it can be nicer if fields can be locked to one particular way
or another however as someone who over the last 5 years has been to many
different offices almost every one of them will want it one particular way or
another. One of those catch 22 things.

I try to stress with the practices I visit that they should start devising a
plan that they can implement across devices from all manufacturers to
streamline for the day when they start implementing EMR/EHR or the other
numerous acronyms that fly around during our technologically challenging
future.

I do work for Zeiss but will always stress to clients that they should devise a
method that works for all their equipment.
