The solution is very simple. O.E.M. has a small box that plugs into the serial cable in place of the printer. This box converts the printer language to almost any format. ie: DICOM, PDF,JPG,PNG etc. and sends the file to a shared file on your computer. The cost is about $1,400.00. From: Stratton, Rick Sent: Thursday, February 16, 2012 12:41 PM To: Pappas, Charles; Rams, Isabel; Hess, Ditte Subject: HIPAA Security initiative In our last HIPAA Security meeting to discuss several of ourOphthalmology Imaging systems, the question was presented of what [if anything]our contemporaries are doing or have done to resolve inefficiencies in theirsystems. In particular, we were hopeful to find outside facilities that useZeiss Humphrey Visual Field Analyzers similar to ours to learn if they’ve takenany efforts to make them HIPAA compliant. I was hopeful you might be able to help us locate contactinformation for people in other facilities similar to ours who perhaps can lendus assistance? Names coming to mind might be Wills Eye, Wilmer Eye, Duke, MassEye and Ear and of course any others you feel as appropriate. I have alreadyreached out to Don Enkerud at UF and will also be sending an email to Dr.Puliafito out at USC.
