I’ve heard of some emergency departments using tegaderm on a closed lid so
that they can use aquasonic ultrasound gel. Does anyone here do this? Why/
why not?

Ah, the mystery is solved. Genteal TEARS gel is not the same as GenTeal
Lubricant Eye Gel. For Ultrasound, the Tears Gel, while better than just
water or tears, is not the viscosity we have come to love and use.
