Of course I did examine the message from Chuck very carefully, to confirm its
validity. It is not asking for anything from me, and it includes elements that
are clearly Charles Pond.
I would share the message with the Optacon list, but that would be violating
personal message privacy.
Does anyone know why Charles was unsubscribed from the list or why he can't be
resubscribed?
Also, is there anyone on this list that had any valid report that led to folks
assuming that Charles had passed.
I suspect that, after Charle's own posts that mention his serious health
problems, his subsequent silence for so long led somebody to assume that
Charles had succumbed to his medical problems.
Is there anyone on this list who has more direct and irrefutable knowledge
about Charle's status?

That message purporting to be from Charles Ponds is indeed a shocker!
I thought he had passed away several months ago. The message you
received might be a scam or a hoax; but I think we can all give the
benefit of doubt to see what comes out of it. As long as the writer of
the message you received is not asking for money, bit coins, or a gift
card, we can "sit back" for awhile and see if we hear anything more
from him.

I've separately Emailed Richard Turner, to let him know that there is
something messed up in his message coding and it is causing his
messages to come through thoroughly scrambled.
On a second matter, I just received a shocker Email that was sent
directly to my Email account.
It claims to be from Charles Pond!
It certainly sounds as though news of his demise has been greatly exaggerated!
The Email from Chuck explains that he had some serious health issues in
the last few years, and he has recovered some, but has had great
difficulty in recovering and being able to communicate with others.
He says that he is not able to post messages on the Optacon list, as he
was unsubscribed and has not been able to resubscribe.
As far as his Optacon display research, he said that he hasn't been
able to work on it since 2018.
He still thinks it is a viable vibrating tactile image display technology.
I'll be glad to relay any possible development news from Charles to this list.
