Greetings again!
The tributes are pouring in for Archie. Steve Connolly's brother, Rohan,
tweeted out this Archie photo attached saying, "One of my favourite photos,
Paul Kelly, Archie Roach and my brother Steve Connolly during the recording of
'Charcoal Lane' in 1990. A really important record. Vale Archie, you were much
loved and respected. RIP." Amen!
Jimeddy, we had a great time in the old days doing video edits, coordinating
video and audio trees, etc. Think how much easier it is today to share the
music. I'm still old school, so I like to have hard copies, but do find
Youtube as a treasure trove. Its amazing what's on there. These days you can
whip out an iPhone and get better video than the real cameras of the 90's when
I was at my covert best. It was always fun getting caught and acting dumb as
possible...Something that came naturally! I never got thrown out, so Keith, I
wish you the same luck. I shared all the covert videos that I took over the
years with Archie and Ruby. I think its nice for their family to have down the
road.
It is great that your new PM can put out a post on Archie's passing, and it
sounds sincere. The world needs more Archie Roaches....and sincerity. Thanks
Archie!
Ken

Ken:
What a fine tribute, and an outstanding video share -- thank you.
Your story here, and the generosity you have shown for the last 20 years or
more (!) to those of us who follow this list serve is admirable, even in
helping us with the sadness we feel with Archie's passing.
You are much appreciated!

Thanks Gin,
Very sorry to hear this news. I had the great pleasure to know Archie and Ruby
just from attending their shows. They were amazed that a Yank had come all the
way to see them in Australia. I wouldn't miss it! When they came to NYC in
October 2001, right after 9/11, their management reached out to me to come down
to the show. I was shocked that they remembered me. That's who they were.
Special!
I'm not sure I've ever met someone as spiritual as Archie. He had that aura
about him of peace and love. His songs could be simple, but tell it all at the
same time. "Took The Children Away" still gives me goosebumps and resonates
to this day. Thanks to PK and Steve Connolly for "discovering" Archie.
In the old days, I used to try and video everyone I saw. Here's a couple of
Archie and Ruby that I posted way back when Youtube was young!
Peace Archie!
