Craig, as ALWAYS, you try to drown out the obvious in a deluge of useless

Bottom line, "all that pro version does," as you put it, is shamelessly copy
the Microsoft Surface. As such, it becomes a viable alternative for a
notebook or laptop, for many people. It's that simple.
Give it up Bert. I used a keyboard with my iPad 4 for years before upgrading to
the iPad Pro. As such it was a viable alternative to a laptop for many
productivity tasks. I would add that Apple's iWork suite of productivity apps
has been available on iPads since they were introduced in 2010.
If anyone was copying something it was Microsoft, which introduced the first
Surface tablets in 2012. But Microsoft created an entirely new category of
devices - a hybrid notebook/tablet that could run both a touch interface and
the windowing GUI used on previous versions of Windows. Windows 8 was a
disaster, and its not much better today with Windows 10.
In the past year, Apple has sold more iPad Pro tablets than Microsoft has sold
since 2012.
What you are missing in this discussion is that Tablets are a SUPERIOR solution
to laptops and desktops for many tasks. That is why they are now being deployed
in large numbers in the enterprise - and I am NOT talking about Surface
devices.
Slate tablets are dead.
Not even close. We are just now starting to see a significant upgrade cycle,
and widespread adoption in both education and the enterprise.
Maybe not for special purpose uses like UPS delivery or rental car returns,
but dead as a popular consumer item. It's not that hard to upgrade them to
make them useful. The only question is why it took the general public more
than a few minutes to figure it out. And you too, naturally.
Once again, you are clueless.
Amazon is selling tens of millions of slate tablets to consumers. Samsung is
selling more than Amazon...to consumers.
Meanwhile PC/tablet hybrids are going nowhere...

Craig
