Are we going to end up with taxi cabs and land-mobile users on adjacent channels to on-air broadcasters? A recipe for disaster. If the plan was to vacate the VHF channels and move totally to the UHF spectrum then a plan to vacate some VHF channels might make sense. But some stupid decision was made to allow the broadcaster to stay on their old assigned ANALOG channel or to stay on their newly assigned DIGITAL channel. But if channel 5 here in LA decides to stay on their digital channel of channel 31 they will always be known as channel 5. How dumb can you get. But they probably will not choose to put digital on channel 5 because of receiver design issues. The CBS television network owned and operated stations in the major markets that have a channel 2 analog assignment have announced they will wait and request a new assignment in the UHF or high VHF channel bands. Things just go from BAD to WORSE.
