I don't understand what you are arguing about.  Watkinson agrees with 
you completely,  As a resident of England (and an old-time engineer), he 
used 625i instead of 720p to make the point, but it is exactly the same 
point you are making -- that 720p looks better than upconverted.  Please 
re-read his message:

You can UNSUBSCRIBE from the OpenDTV list in two ways:
