The popularity of individual shows/movies has always been the basis of
competition for entertainment media. More eyeballs = more money.

But the industry has worked very hard to assure that you have access to
everything in multiple ways, as you like to point out.

The limitations of linear streaming MVPD systems contributed to the fat
bundles, but it was the content owners that pushed this to the limits in terms
of forcing the carriage of ever more new channels (i.e. the mechanism to get
around the '92 cable act attempt to control rate inflation).

The real threat to the fat bundles is NOT competition from new internet
services per se. It is the shift in viewer behavior to on demand consumption of
pre produced content.

This replaces the need for appointments to watch or record the linear feeds.
This ESPECIALLY undermines the value of all of the second tier "rerun" channels
that have been added over the years. Linear networks are increasingly reliant
on live and first run content. And even this is being challenged by the SVOD
services, that release entire seasons of exclusive shows on a single date.

Only because you must be a subscriber to the linear channel to access the
lInked TVE service. see the previous post.

With respect to accessing the TVE services Bert. Stop twisting everything.

By the way, Sling just announced the addition of Galavision, El Rey Network and
Maker Network to its core programming package, and announced a deal for A&E
networks, which have not yet been added. This brings the total above 15
channels. They also announced a new add on sports mini bundle.

The jury is still out on the broadcast network add on package...

Craig
