Visited Best Buy yesterday, specifically for TV toys.

One interesting finding:

LG sells combination ATSC STB/DVD player, for $299,
and a combination ATSC STB/DVD recorder for $450.
I'm assuming these are still 4th gen, though. :(

A few points:

1. Last year, DVD recorders for $429 were a good deal.
This year, you can get an ATSC tuner in that same
price.

2. But that's not so good. Because DVD recorders go for
$179 this year. So you're still perhaps paying close
to $300 for the ATSC STB.

3. In the store, one would expect ATSC STB/DVD recorder
to be on the same shelf as other DVD recorders, right?
As in, "DVD recorder with only NTSC tuner," or "DVD
recorder with ATSC + NTSC." Instead no. The recorders
with ATSC tuner were hidden away with the other (hard
to see) ATSC STBs.

Is it a wonder no one gets this DTV stuff? If the big
stores don't get it, how can the consumers?
