(NYSE:VZ) has applied to offer cable television service to customers in nine states as part of a new high-speed fiber-optic network, Business Week magazine reported on Thursday. The U.S.'s largest telephone company has said it would spend $1 billion on extending fiber-optic cables to homes this year with a target of connecting 1 million homes.
