The subscribers to Cablevision who watch HGTV and Food Network know that they cannot watch these channels during this dispute are not going to install antennas to watch these episodes. They are going to enter a different channel number on their remote controls.

And those who do not subscribe to a MVPD may watch these shows and get a taste of what the rest of us are watching. A few may even decide to subscribe to a multi-channel service.

What you will NOT see is a rush to move cable networks to FOTA.

Cablevision is losing subscribers because of this - these retrans blackouts are a boon for the DBS companies, which tend to go along with these subscriber fee increases rather than risk losing subscribers.

What we "might" see is some of these cable networks buying time from broadcasters to air some of their best shows as a promotional technique to get more of the laggards to subscribe to a MVPD service.
