No Bert. They are not at a disadvantage. They control 90% of what we watch, and most of that is NOT the content they produce for their OTA networks. The OTA franchise is what has allowed them to rebuild their oligopoly, and it continues to provide them with substantial political clout.

Owning a national broadcast footprint would not change a thing, as the real money comes from the leverage they have over the MVPDs. They will make substantially more money when they shut down transmitters and deal direct with the MVPDs.

That is, until they can make more money by bypassing the MVPDs with direct distribution.
