I think I remember there are power restrictions for low VHF DTVs because =
of co-channel interference problems
exaserbated by the fact that RF travels further (skip) at these =
frequencies than at the higher VHFs.

Another interesting article that includes reasons why low VHF channels =
are not suited for DTV is by proponants of reallocating CH 6 solely for =
FM broadcast!

But are these stations using a realistic "full" power? 57 MHz actually
in the
"shortwave" region. It's subject to skip, for instance. It's also low
enough frequency that
high transmitter powers are possible. For example, 50 kW average. With a
four bay antenna
that's 200 kW average (digital ) ERP. That kind of power may very well
punch through
the goo like 2 kW won't.
