There is some technology out there that tries to infer a
demographic profile from your viewing choices and behavior. In
a PVR based environment, some number of ads would be pre-fed
to your local storage, perhaps based on zip code. At insert time
a choice is made from the available ads based on the inferred
demographic. In theory nothing goes back to the service provider.

If you were to broadcast multiple ads simultaneously, a similar
technique could be used to select the appropriate ad.
