Your preoccupation with wide channels is yet another indication
of your engineering blinders,

My suggestion to you is that you find someone willing to write you a simple
little Shannon's equation app. Something that will permit you to plug in
numbers, for channel width, S/N ratio, and capacity in b/s, so you can see
what we are talking about here. Otherwise, you will continue to not get it.

Thank you for confirming my statement.

Take off the blinders Bert and think like a consumer, not an engineer. Take off
the blinders and think like the Board of Directors authorizing the investment
of billions of dollars in spectrum and infrastructure.

The issue here is providing wireless broadband service. As in, 2-way,
wireless, Internet broadband access. Of course there are other uses for
spectrum. But that's not how the 600 MHz spectrum grab was justified. You can
also use that spectrum for, let's see, one-way broadcast TV. Just one example.

Give it up. Adding capacity is adding capacity Bert. IF you can offload a large
amount of streams from the higher frequency bands you are ALSO freeing up
spectrum that is more optimal for other uses.

And btw, the forward auction showed that those who know these things were
**not** clamoring for this spectrum. That should have told you something,
Craig.

NO Bert. It showed the true value of this spectrum based on the cost of
deploying various alternatives.

It will be interesting to see how this FCC (and Congress) deal with allocation
of the 5 GHz bands. Will we stop trying to fund the government by forcing
consumers to pay through the nose for use of the spectrum we all own, or will
we move to an unlicensed model that encourages investment as we saw with Wi-Fi?

Regards
Craig
