Well, perhaps the combination of "LTE" and "600 MHz spectrum" is a
"foundation" for a 5G network much like ATSC 3.0 broadcast is a foundation
for interactive service. Neither one being, respectively, either 5G or
interactive. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt, and say it's an
"indirect foundation."
Clever hype consists of not telling the whole story, in the hopes that the
reader draws some exaggerated conclusion.
The only exaggeration here is YOURS Bert.
This article says nothing, and YOU know nothing about HOW T-Mobile will use its
LTE networks as the foundation for 5G networks.
We do know that 5G cellular service can only operate over short distances,
which makes it mostly useless for cellular communications in rural areas. We
also know that the propagation characteristics for the 600 MHz spectrum are
ideal for longer distance communications, especially using slightly taller
towers.
Could 600 MHz LTE be the backhaul needed for 5G wireless fixed broadband?

Craig
