An MVPD cannot degrade the resolution of a station it carries.
I have not found anything from the FCC that forces MVPDs to carry HD as HD,
when they rebroadcast a station's signal. In fact, for several years, DBS
couldn't. But feel free to do the legwork. You might be confusing this with
retrans consent, where such agreements might be made between stations and
MVPDs, which of course would be something the FCC wouldn't comment on.
They never carried ATSC 1.0, ...
What bullsh*t
They had no reason the “carry ATSC.” They use a different modulation system.
Always clueless Craig. Isn’t that what I just said, genius? They never carried
ATSC 1.0, they don’t have to carry ATSC 3.0. DUH!
As I pointed out this morning, the MVPDs WERE the DTV transition
for more than 85% of U.S. homes.
But what you didn't get, this morning or way back when, is that it is ONLY
thanks to the Michael Powell FCC that the MVPD subscribers could be counted for
the 85% criterion. Of course, you forgot all of that, but we did have a
"discussion" on this very subject, way back. Your hope then was that the 85%
criterion would never be met and that ATSC transition would never even happen.
MVPDs. Facility based MVPDs offer “Clear QAM “ versions of local
broadcasts to comply with FCC regulations
And you can feel free to research that too, because you will find that there is
no FCC regulation mandating clearQAM carriage of anything at all.
