There's all kinds of USB tuners out there. It only takes three chips these days. Here's what I use for my DVB-T2 experiments.

The small RF input is an MCX connector. Usually an adapter is used to connect with an F connector or "PAL" (Belling-Lee) connector (or in my case, SMA).

An HDMI stick would be more complex, but seems entirely doable.
