Hey, I'll be moving to Gainesville next week (probably offline a bit) for my new job. Hopefully HD reception there is not so bad as all that but I'll at least be able to compare with Jax & Detroit. I'm going to be on the North side of town (Northwood Oaks) so maybe I'll even be able to get some Jacksonville stations if I put up a decent outside antenna.
And Craig, hi neighbor. ;-) Is it worth getting Cox cable just for broadband, limited basic. Or are better options available?

I don't quite understand how OTA TV can be so bad in Gainesville. Maybe there's hope, because there are lots of translators there, and new ones on the way, it seems. Within a 30 mile radius of the U of F, rabbit ear range, I only get four DTT stations: WCJB-DT ABC 344 KW 10.5 mi 214 deg WGFL-DT CBS 168 KW 16.5 mi 262 deg WUFT-DT PBS 1 MW 6.4 mi 300 deg WOGX-DT Fox 500 KW 21.0 mi 184 deg But I count 15 translators, either operating or new, that must be there for more than just religious programming? And they will have to go digital too, at some point. For NBC, you supposedly have to go all the way to Daytona Beach, 79 miles away. Surely, a few of the 15 translators can go to NBC, CW, and MNT?? Maybe I see why Craig thinks there's no option. What's the deal with Gainesville, anyway?
