Kent's comment about Skype aside, I'm seeing a ton of IP video (via Internet)
on the cable news channels - i don't watch the broadcast network news, so I
don't know if they are doing this too. But there are many ways to send a live
video stream over the internet from "webcams."
I suspect that there are companies that specializes in the studio gear needed
to convert these video streams into signals that can be integrated with live
production gear. That may be worth a technical Emmy.
It would be interesting to know if the news organizations are using higher end
gear to send HD quality feeds over the Internet. I know they do this in the
local news business with bonded cellular.
