It is precisely demand inelasticity. A substantial portion of households has
bailed from your monopolistic medium for exactly that reason, and continue to
do so. They noticed the "monopoly control" you just mentioned, and made certain
changes to what they demand. Those who have not made the change are those with
inelastic demand. Options do exist, Craig. You can sometimes get a better deal
by buying the car that's already on the dealer's lot, as opposed to ordering
one with exactly the options you want. Demand elasticity.
There you go again Bert. THERE IS NO OTT SITE THAT ALLOWS ME TO BUY ALL
OF THE NETWORKS I WATCH.
= demand inelasticity. Thanks for demonstrating this so clearly.
It's called a monopoly Bert.
That's funny. The only "monopoly" I have to deal with is Verizon, and they're
under Title II. With OTA, no monopoly. You're doing something wrong, Craig.
Your demand inelasticity DOES NOT mean that all TV content is under the control
of a monopoly. It's YOUR CHOICES that give you such misconceptions.
But technology has NOTHING to do with story telling,
The storytelling has also gotten better, not just the technology. The actors on
TV are way better than even just 20 years ago, for the most part. The writing
is usually much better too. There are very few exceptions to this, where old
shows are still of the same caliber as current shows (acting plus writing).
After Monty just posted an article explaining how the inflow of new
money is impacting the content creation industry?
Many things happen simultaneously, Craig. We are talking about the increased
competition, which INCLUDES, nowadays, competition on pricing. As you often do,
you try to go off on a tangent, on a different topic. Fact is, people who bail
out of legacy solutions, solutions which made sense 40 years ago, are paying
less, not more, for their TV fix.
THEN IT'S NOT THE SAME BUNDLE, Craig!
DUH!
Then quit repeating that your "the bundle" has merely moved to the Internet.
That's nonsense. The whole landscape has changed, for those with a modicum of
demand elasticity.
Bert
