Guide Service, they have made it possible for international customers to
enjoy the Kaleidescape experience.

“Since the introduction of the Kaleidescape System, we have seen

“Kaleidescape has received overwhelming support from the international
market and consumer electronics industry,” states Vice President,
International Sales, Jean-Michel Bourdon. With eighteen years of experience
in worldwide account and senior business management, including ten years as
Director of Worldwide OEM Solutions Sales at Adobe Systems and five as
Adobe’s European OEM Business Manager, Bourdon expresses,
“Kaleidescape’s commitment to innovation and technology has
positioned the company as a worldwide forerunner. With key system
enhancements and strategic distribution channels in place, I am confident
that we will succeed in bringing Kaleidescape’s revolutionary
technology to the global consumer.”

Kaleidescape has focused its tactical efforts on the development of dealer

by Bourdon, will work directly with dealers to grow market penetration in
Australia, Mexico and the European community. Elsewhere, Kaleidescape’s
internal sales managers will work via distributors to increase channel sales

(expandable to 500 DVDs), a Digital Movie Player for playback in a single

the household Ethernet network. A scalable system architecture permits an
additional Digital Movie Player to be added to the network for each desired
viewing zone, and additional Kaleidescape Servers to be added for storing
thousands of DVDs.

KALEIDESCAPE ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR HIGH-DEF CONTENT

KALEIDESCAPE ANNOUNCES SUPPORT FOR HIGH-DEF CONTENT

Amsterdam, NL – ISE Jan 26 – 28, RAI Hall 8, Stand #706 --
Kaleidescape, Inc., the company that created the first Entertainment Server
for whole-house video, announces support for delivery, storage, and playback
of high-definition video content on Kaleidescape Systems. With this
announcement, Kaleidescape demonstrates its continued commitment to deliver
the highest quality home theater experience, and is the first and only
product in its category to offer hard disk support for the life-like detail
and quality of high-definition video.

As of 2005, Kaleidescape will provide dealers and customers a way to
showcase this new capability by including high-definition 1080i versions of
two 52-minute movies, encoded at 35 megabits per second (approximately
double the rate of broadcast HD): Kalahari, The Great Thirstland; and
Kalahari, The Flooded Desert. These award-winning wildlife films by Tim
Liversedge provide a stunning portrait of the wildlife of Africa’s
Kalahari Desert.

Kaleidescape’s high-definition support begins with securely pre-loading
movies at the factory on Kaleidescape Disk Cartridges. When these movies are
played back by the customer with a Kaleidescape Digital Movie Player, the
video output is displayed in high-definition 720p or 1080i format, via
either HDMI or YPbPr component outputs to the display. The high-definition
digital content is stored securely on the Kaleidescape System as part of the
same movie library containing the customer’s DVD movies.

The Kaleidescape System was designed to be an excellent platform for the
distribution, storage and playback of high-definition motion pictures. The
Kaleidescape System is the first Entertainment Server to take advantage of
the enormous storage capacity of hard disk arrays to deliver pre-loaded
high-definition video. In the future, high-definition movies will be made
available for purchase for Kaleidescape Systems. These movies will be
pre-loaded by Kaleidescape at the factory on the customer’s Server
prior to shipment, or on disk cartridges that can be added to existing
Kaleidescape Systems. Kaleidescape is working with content providers who
would like to offer their movie productions in high-definition to
Kaleidescape customers.

The Kaleidescape System is available in most international markets; the Base
includes a Kaleidescape Server with sufficient storage for 180 DVDs
(expandable to 500 DVDs), a Digital Movie Player for playback in a single
zone, and a DVD Reader for importing DVDs. These components are connected by
the household Ethernet network. A scalable system architecture permits an
additional Digital Movie Player to be added to the network for each desired
viewing zone, and additional Kaleidescape Servers to be added for storing
thousands of DVDs.

KALEIDESCAPE LAUNCHES THEIR NEW HDMI DIGITAL MOVIE PLAYER

PRESS RELEASE

KALEIDESCAPE LAUNCHES THEIR NEW HDMI DIGITAL MOVIE PLAYER

Amsterdam, NL – ISE Jan 26 – 28, RAI Hall 8, Stand #706 –
Kaleidescape, Inc., the company that created the first entertainment server
for whole-house video, announces availability of its new K2500 Digital Movie
Player. The K2500 Digital Movie Player is capable of delivering DVD and HD
movies in digital format from source to display without analog conversion.

The K2500 connects via a switched Ethernet network to a Kaleidescape Server
and provides a High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) output to connect
to audio/video processors and displays. Video processors and displays with
Digital Visual Interface (DVI) inputs and High-bandwidth Digital Content
Protection (HDCP) can be connected using an HDMI to DVI adapter. The K2500
also provides high-quality analog YPbPr component outputs driven by 10-bit
DACs with high-definition smoothing and filtering for video processors and
displays that do not support digital inputs.

The K2500 is configurable to output high-definition video in 720p and 1080i,
as well as 480i/480p NTSC formats, and 576i/576p PAL formats via HDMI and
YPbPr component outputs. Additionally, upscaling of native 480i and 576i DVD
content to either 720p or 1080i is available on the HDMI output. Faroudja
DCDi™ and FilmMode deinterlacing provides progressive video output for
enhanced DVD video performance. In addition to YPbPr component output,
S-Video and composite video outputs are available for displays and control
equipment where an analog connection may be desired.

For audio, multi-channel Dolby Digital and DTS, as well as MPEG and PCM, can
be delivered via HDMI, digital coaxial, and optical digital outputs. Analog
2-channel downmixing of Dolby Digital, MPEG, and PCM provides stereo output
on RCA connectors.

The Movie Player integrates with control systems (e.g. AMX and Crestron) via
a bi-directional RS-232 port or a 100Base-T Ethernet connection. IR control
is available through a Xantech-compatible IR port or an IR window on the
Movie Player front panel.

The Kaleidescape Digital Movie player provides all the familiar movie
navigation features such as pause, chapter skipping, fast skipping/reversing
and multi-angle. Unlike other movie playback equipment, the K2500 features
an on-screen user interface that lets you browse and search your entire
collection of movies, play movies without navigating through a DVD menu,
create collections, and mark/play favorite scenes using Kaleidescape’s
patent-pending bookmark technology.

The K2500 Digital Movie Player is available in most international markets
and it is available with regulatory approvals and safety certifications for
domestic and international installations. The Base Kaleidescape System
includes a Kaleidescape Server with sufficient storage for 180 DVDs
(expandable to 500 DVDs), a Digital Movie Player for playback in a single
zone, and a DVD Reader for importing DVDs. These components are connected by
the household Ethernet network. A scalable system architecture permits an
additional Digital Movie Player to be added to the network for each desired
viewing zone, and additional Kaleidescape Servers to be added for storing
thousands of DVDs.
