I recall, in the late 1960s, having to modify a U.S. made B&W TV to detect the higher frequency audio subcarrier to allow reception of the Armed Forces channel (and also the German channels, in B&W). The sets V-Hold control had sufficient range to lock the V oscillator on the 50 Hz frame rate. > -----Original Message----- > From: opendtv-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:opendtv-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of negrjp > Sent: Monday, December 18, 2006 12:41 AM > To: opendtv > Subject: [opendtv] Re: PAL > > > Donald wrote: > > > Some world TV standards use a 525 line PAL color > system, and others use a 625 line NTCS color system. > > Yes, Brazil and Laos uses M-PAL 525 line system. > In Europe, NATO military bases uses NTSC 625 line system. > > Jonas. > > > > > > -----Original Message----- > > From: opendtv-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:opendtv-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On > > Behalf Of Dale Kelly > > Sent: Saturday, December 16, 2006 9:11 AM > > To: opendtv@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > > Subject: [opendtv] Re: PAL > > > > Donald wrote: > > > > > Keep in mind that PAL is a color system only and does not denote > > > the number of lines or frame rate. > > > > I'm not certain how this relates to my posting regarding > differential phase > > distortion being a reason for PAL' introduction.
