This item is right on cue. The bar has been raised. No one buys bias-ply

Non-living room HDTV sales rise in US

New research from The Diffusion Group suggests high-definition TVs are
increasingly being purchased by US consumers for rooms other than the
lounge. Among households with broadband, around 40% of HDTV set sales
are for non-living room viewing.

Michael Greeson, founding partner of Dallas-based The Diffusion Group,
which focuses on digital home market reseach, said: "HDTVs can now be
found in more than one-third of US broadband households.

"Given recent price declines and expanded awareness of the benefits of
HD, we're seeing more mainstream consumers purchase their first HDTV and
more advanced households buy a second and, in some rare cases, even a
third HDTV."

Data collected in December 2006 finds that close to 40m HDTVs can now be
found in US broadband households.
