That's the whole point: you do.

Lack of knowledge of a topic one pontificates on
*is* shooting from the hip. But no one ever said
you're "disqualified from providing commentary."
However, your audience is entitled to explain
why you are wrong.

Examples abound, of course. On the recent matter
of TV shows migrating to 16:9, look how long it
took to get the point across that digital TV
shows, and *also* many NTSC shows, were going to
that one aspect ratio. Yes, even from the BBC.
It took years. even though the evidence was
unarguable, some people just cannot get beyond
their old refrains.
