Seems to me that to get overly religious about the standby power of a
basic DTT STB is counterproductive. In comparison to other standby power
levels the article mentions, even the 2 Watts required of some 3rd gen
STBs is noise level. And more importantly, these are going to be
temporary solutions anyway, only needed as long as the existing TV set
is in use.

It seems silly for California to worry so much about the standby power
of a temporary DTT STB, and not at all about the standby power of more
permanent and numerous applicances like DBS or cable STBs and DVRs, not
to mention the ubiquitous displays themselves.

What are these guys thinking? Or are they?
