Broadcast Flag Arguments Next Week
The oral arguments on the broadcast flag case in=20
the U.S. Court of Appeals Court will be held next=20
Tuesday, Feb. 22.
Public Knowledge and other organizations=20
challenged the authority of the FCC to institute=20
the broadcast flag rule, which requires consumer=20
electronics and other devices such as TiVos,=20
iPods, digital VCRs and cell phones to be able to=20
block copying of over-the-air digital TV content=20
at the wishes of content owners. Organizations=20
including the Consumer Federation of America,=20
Consumers Union and several libraries said the=20
=46CC exceeded its authority to institute the=20
broadcast flag rule.
