Although I wouldn't necessarily mind a wholesale change, I don't think your 
three "reasons" are valid.

The first and second are not imposed by ATSC. No one is forcing ATSC to use 
59.94, except for equipment manufacturers. So for example, it would far simpler 
to remove the 59.94 OPTION from ATSC, than it would be to create a whole new 
standard that doesn't support it.

The third reason doesn't make any sense. ATSC is as upgradeable as any other 
layered protocol standard.

It can't. They rely on an infinite long revenue stream to fund those.

You mean, if they can coerce people, because they perceive that there's no 
option? But in fact, cord cutting is a real phenomenon. You're behind on the 
times, Craig.

BTW, why don't you propose STBs for iPads?
