Aside from the recent news concerning FiOS in Boston, Verizon stopped expanding 
FiOS some time ago. If it was such a great idea, they would not have.

Obviously they did not have the power to force people to

But they do have the power to drop you as a customer. We've been over this too 
many times, Craig. Why do I have to repeat myself?

What is inferior is your DSL service.

AT&T keeps upgrading its DSL. Verizon does not. Combine refusal to keep DSL up 
to date, and giving up expanding the very expensive FiOS service, and you get 
the picture. Lack of interest. Like I said, the effect is to reduce the number 
of viable competitors in wired broadband service. Verizon would rather I went 
to Cox cable than upgrade DSL.

I've explained all of this, and why I don't much like FiOS, very many times 
already.
