The piracy issue is what the article mentioned, in any specific way. In any
event, as I said, TVE exists, as do other OTT sites. So whatever ad placement
wants the owners and distributors might have must have been met.
Correct. Nothing, except completely converting every head end from
MPEG-2 TS to IP.
Like I said, nothing stands in the way aside from transition time. I already
said that. You can recover a good 5+ Gb/s of system capacity, giving you all
the spectrum you need for IP live streams, and then some. And this can begin
yesterday. Does not need to happen all at once. A non-problem, Craig.
The issues then become related to the roles the MVPDs now play in
the TV ecosystem:
The only essential role is to be the broadband ISP.
Roles that are NOT ESSENTIAL FROM THE ISP, but roles that the ISP may wish to
retain as an OTT site, would be all that you list. You simply have to move on,
Craig, beyond legacy ideas.
