Let's see...$1200 for an HDTV monitor -- same as last year's model, but with 
the NTSC tuner removed -- or $1600 for the same thing, but with an ATSC 
receiver/decoder or $1700 for the ATSC+CableCard version. Joe Sales Manager at 
the local A/V retailer makes his money by moving product -- the more 
units/month, the more $ in his pocket. He knows that the cheaper HDTV product 
will sell more, especially since 85% (statistical average) of his customers 
have either cable or satellite, and don't even know what an "ATSC tuner" is or 
why they would ever use one.
 
If the big CE guys don't make HD monitors (easy for them, all they have to do 
is remove the NTSC tuner), then China Inc. will do it for them -- and eat a 
significant portion of thier lunch.
