That wouldn't explain why the global design should not be a good
solution for ATSC as well, though. If the company knows how to design a
good tuner, and intends to sell to all DTT markets, it should provide
one that meets all requirements. Or don't advertize a global design.

It's true that Nordig, in terms of tuner specs especially, is not as
stringent as A/74. They probably don't need to be, due to the more
prevalent co-location of transmitter antennas and the lower power
transmitters.

Tuners are tuners. COFDM does not make their job easier. Sensitivity,
selectivity, dynamic range are all modulation-agnostic. If anything, the
lower the C/N margin the better, when you're trying to deal with IM
distortion, because it means that you can overcome somewhat louder IM
products. So this would imply that for equal spectral efficiency,
single-carrier modulation schemes are easier for the tuner, seems to me.
