Now consider what value there might be in a properly designed OTA infrastructure with broad support in terms of new services and receivers.

How effective would those fire trucks at the airport be if you had to hook up the horses to pull the pumper out to the runway, and several strong guys had to operate the manual pump?

Just because there is 'some" value left in the legacy OTA business proposition, does not mean that there are not other propositions that would serve the same purpose AND provide new services that would support a robust market around the system.

Perhaps the better question to ask, is why we cannot have a free to air, advertiser supported, multi-channel system here in the U.S. that parallels what is happening in Europe. And it is important to note that this DOES NOT preclude the new service being used to deliver bits that are paid for.
